Who are we and what do we do?

We are a small group at MIT that maintains a versatile set of scientific and engineering skills to carry out an ambitious mission: research outer space and the universe to push the bounds of human knowledge! To this end, we build imaging instruments for ground and space telescopes. These cameras, spectrographs, and detector systems capture light emitted by objects in the universe, unlocking the secrets of astrophysical processes all the way back to the beginning of time.
